Established on September 4, 1978, Anna University is a unitary university located in Chennai. Anna University campus (main) is spread over 189 acres of land. As per the QS World University Rankings 2023, the university bagged 185th rank with a score of 28.2. As per the NIRF Rankings 2022, Anna University secured 22nd rank in the overall category, 20th rank in the university category, and 21st rank in the research category. Anna University has four main university department centres namely, the College of Engineering (CEG), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT), Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), and School of Architecture & Planning (SAP). Apart from this AU has 13 constituent colleges, three regional campuses at Tirunelveli, Madurai and Coimbatore and 593 affiliated colleges. It includes government, government-aided and self-financing colleges. Anna University courses list comprises a total of 133 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Anna University admissions are done on the basis of entrance exams. B.Tech admissions are done through TNEA counselling. TANCET scores are considered for admission in MBA and MCA programmes.
